A Short but Memorable Festival Experience in Vigan Vigan City came alive during the festival season held from January 16 to 26, and even with just a short visit, the cultural energy of the city was unforgettable. I arrived in Vigan for content creation and was immediately drawn to the festive atmosphere along Calle Crisologo, where history and celebration blended beautifully. The sound of music, colorful decorations, and the presence of locals and tourists made the city feel vibrant and welcoming. One of the highlights of my visit was witnessing the cultural street performances and parade, where performers showcased traditional dances and costumes inspired by Ilocano heritage. Caoayan is a town located near the Heritage City of Vigan. It is known as the birthplace of *Abel*, the traditional handwoven fabric of the Ilocanos. One well-known weaving shop in the area is **Pagabelan ni Tinay, where local weavers continue the age-old tradition of creating Abel using wooden looms and vibrant threads. When I visited Pagabelan ni Tinay, I had the chance to witness how the weavers patiently worked on their intricate designs. Their hands moved gracefully, forming patterns that reflected both creativity and skill. It takes several hours—or even days—to finish a single piece of fabric. The weavers produce blankets, scarves, bags, and other handmade items that embody the culture and hard work of the people of Caoayan. Although Abel weaving originated in Caoayan, it has also become part of Vigan’s rich heritage.
