“OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”

The 2025 National Children’s Month highlights a powerful and urgent call: “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” This theme reminds us that the digital world, while full of opportunities, also carries real dangers for children. Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) has become one of the fastest-growing crimes in the world, and the Philippines is no exception. Because of this, the celebration pushes us to fight harder for the safety, dignity, and rights of every Filipino child.

The government has taken strong steps to protect children, especially through laws such as the Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Act (RA 11930), which strengthens enforcement against predators and supports faster rescue and rehabilitation. Agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine National Police – Women and Children Protection Center (PNP-WCPC), and Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) work together to monitor online platforms, report harmful activities, and provide psychological support to victims. These efforts show that the government recognizes that children deserve a safe environment—both offline and online.

However, the fight cannot be carried by the government alone. To truly end OSAEC, schools, families, communities, and digital platforms must work hand in hand. Parents need digital literacy, schools must teach online safety, and technology companies must strictly monitor harmful content. Protecting children is not just a government responsibility it is a shared duty. When society unites, we create a safer digital world where children can grow, learn, and dream without fear.

In the end, this year’s National Children’s Month reminds us of a powerful truth: Children’s rights are human rights. Their safety must always come first, and their dignity must never be compromised. Every child deserves protection, respect, and a future free from exploitation. It is our collective mission to ensure that their voices are heard and their rights are defended.
